The Wayfarer Film
The Wayfarer is an intriguing and informative new film about one young man’s journey around the world to understand the Bahá’í faith – its beliefs, its humanitarian efforts, and its ongoing struggle against persecution.
Filmmaker Jess Firth first encountered the Faith while visiting an old school-friend from New Zealand who now works at the Baha’i World Centre. Intrigued by what he saw of this new religion, Jess set out on a year-long journey through five different countries, meeting Bahá’ís, experiencing their holy places, questioning their beliefs and visiting their development projects.
The Wayfarer is the first independent documentary to investigate this rapidly expanding faith, which is now the second most geographically widespread religion in the world after Christianity.
The hour-long film, shot entirely in HD digital video with an original score by upcoming soundtrack composer Edward White, combines thought provoking content with stunning images of iconic locations.
View the trailer here, but look out for the full feature to come very soon.

I am not sure this is the first documentary about the Baha’i Faith by an independent film-maker. George Stoney, American documentary film-maker prepared a very moving film on th Bah’i Faith in 1967. It was entitled “A New Wind.” It is my understanding that Mr. Stoney has not permitted his film to be distributed since that time.

I can’t wait to see this. I’m slightly jealous that Jess got to travel around the world and see so much of what’s going on firsthand, but really grateful that he’s sharing his experience with us!

I just heard about this on the UK Baha’i Blog. Is there information about how this film is being distributed. Where and how could someone in the U.S. see it?

I’m the friend Jess came to see in Haifa…its so incredible to now see what has come from his journey around the world. I am looking for people anywhere in the world who would be willing to organise screenings (esp in USA, someone in New York, perhaps at the Baha’i Center in the city i’m thinking) There are screenings planned so far in Sydney, London, and Wellington…but if you can help me distribute it please contact me on:

It’s about time someone put together the greatest story of our time. Will pray for the success of this wonderful endeavor to show the world a true world religion…one sent by God for this age. Seeing Bahais work and worship in diverse cultures will be a special treat even for many Bahais.

The DVD appears to only be available in a European(PAL) version which won’t play on American DVD players. Is an American NTSC version planned?
